What is your fee?
I offer 50 min sessions I also reserve appointment space for individuals who require a lower fee. Together, we negotiate this fee based on what you can afford and what my practice can accommodate at the time.
Do you take insurance?
I am considered an “out-of-network” provider on most insurance plans, and I do not take insurance. If you would like to use your insurance provider’s out-of-network benefits, I will provide you with a monthly receipt that you can submit to your insurance plan for reimbursement. After payment of a deductible, out-of-network benefits cover a percentage of my fee. You may also be able to use pre-tax dollars through a flexible medical spending account to cover out-of-pocket psychotherapy expenses.
How do I know if I have "out-of-network" benefits?
Call your insurance company and ask about your mental/behavioral health coverage. Here are some specific questions to ask:
Do I have out-of-network coverage for mental/behavioral health services?
What is my deductible, has it been met, if not, how much do I have remaining?
How many sessions per year does my plan cover?
When does the year technically begin and end?
What percentage of an out-of-network psychologist’s fee is reimbursed? Is there a maximum covered amount per session?
Is a primary care physician referral required before I can be seen in psychotherapy?
Are certain diagnoses covered/not covered?
How do I file a claim?
Do you provide referrals?
If we decide after our initial consultation that you would be better served by another provider or by more comprehensive services, I am happy to refer you to providers or clinics I am familiar with and trust.
Do you plan to have a physical office space?
I do. Once a week I work from my physical office located on College Ave in Oakland, CA.
How should we get started?
Before the first appointment, I like to schedule a fifteen minute video consultation. This helps us learn a little bit about each other. I can also answer any initial questions you may have before your first appointment. After that, I recommend that we start with 1-3 consultation sessions to gain a better sense of what it might be like to work together and determine whether it’s a good fit.
